Professor Jaeseok Yang's research lab focuses on transplantation immunology and regenerative medicine, with a particular emphasis on understanding and overcoming immune barriers in organ transplantation. The lab investigates regulatory T cells (Tregs) and their role in inducing tolerance, especially in the context of alloreactive memory T cells that resist conventional tolerance strategies. It also explores genetic and cytoprotective approaches—such as heme oxygenase-1 expression—to improve the survival and function of xenografts, including porcine islet-like clusters. Additionally, the lab contributes to clinical transplantation research through registries and studies on ABO-incompatible kidney transplantation and long-interval GPS data mapping in transplant logistics.
