Professor Jang-Won Lee's research lab specializes in network optimization and resource allocation in wireless and data networks, with a focus on developing distributed, scalable algorithms for efficient and fair utilization of network resources. The lab investigates cross-layer design problems that integrate rate control, power allocation, and medium access control under realistic system constraints, including non-concave utility functions, quality-of-service tradeoffs, and physical-layer adaptation. A central theme is the application of network utility maximization (NUM) frameworks to achieve optimal system performance while maintaining stability and convergence in dynamic, heterogeneous environments.
