研究室紹介

Professor Jee Yun Ahn's research lab focuses on the intersection of ophthalmology and neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Parkinson’s disease (PD). The lab investigates retinal changes as early biomarkers of neurodegeneration, with a strong emphasis on optical coherence tomography (OCT) to assess retinal layer thickness and its correlation with disease progression and dopamine transporter availability. Additional research explores drug-induced ocular toxicity, such as vortex keratopathy from targeted cancer therapies, and surgical outcomes in patients with ocular motility disorders. The lab integrates clinical ophthalmic imaging with neuroimaging and functional assessments to identify non-invasive markers for early neurological disease detection.

Retinal thinning associates with nigral dopaminergic loss in de novo Parkinson disease
Jeeyun Ahn, Jee‐Young Lee, Tae Wan Kim, Eun Jin Yoon, Sohee Oh, Yu Kyeong Kim, Jong‐Min Kim, Se Joon Woo, Ki Woong Kim, Beomseok Jeon
SJR Q1Neurology

Retinal thinning is present in the early stages of PD, correlates with disease severity, and may be linked to nigral dopaminergic degeneration. Retinal imaging may be useful for detection of pathologic changes occurring in early PD.

SJR Q1Movement Disorders

Abstract Objectives We investigated retinal change and its relationship with neurodegeneration markers in a prodromal Parkinson cohort. Methods A total of 30 patients with idiopathic rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder were recruited. Participants underwent olfactory testing, macular optical coherence tomography, microperimetry, contrast sensitivity test, and brain N ‐(3‐[ 18 F]fluoropropyl)‐2‐carbomethoxy‐3‐(4‐iodophenyl) nortropane positron emission tomography. We measured the ganglion

LONG-TERM TEMPORAL CHANGES OF PERIPAPILLARY RETINAL NERVE FIBER LAYER THICKNESS BEFORE AND AFTER PANRETINAL PHOTOCOAGULATION IN SEVERE DIABETIC RETINOPATHY

SJR Q1Retina

This study shows that average RNFL thickness after PRP undergoes early thickening and subsequent progressive thinning throughout the 2 years post-PRP. This temporal change varies according to the peripapillary RNFL quadrant. Our results also indicate that temporal RNFL and foveal thickness have a similar pattern of long-term change after PRP.

SJR Q2Korean Journal of OphthalmologyOA

We report a case of vortex keratopathy in a patient treated with vandetanib for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). A 44-year-old female who underwent two cycles of chemotherapy for NSCLC complained of visual blurring in both eyes after the initiation of vandetanib, an anti-epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and anti-vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 protein tyrosine kinase inhibitor. On ophthalmic examination, visual acuities were 20 / 20 OU and, with the exception of diffuse v

SJR Q1Retina

Bilateral same-day intravitreal injections drawn from a single vial using separate syringes or needles are well tolerated by patients, and its safety profile may be equivalent to unilateral injections. The bacterial molecular surveillance system using eubacterial PCR demonstrated the safety of bilateral same-day intravitreal injections and may be used for safety surveillance and for timely intervention of possible drug-related endophthalmitis.

PURPOSE: To investigate the prevalence and clinical features of ocular abnormalities in patients with cerebral palsy (CP) and the association with gross motor function. METHODS: A complete ophthalmologic examination was performed in 88 consecutive patients with CP before and during orthopedic surgery in a tertiary hospital from July 2008 to March 2010. The prevalence and clinical features of ocular abnormalities and the association with gross motor function state were investigated. RESULTS: Seve
