Professor Jeong Byung-chang's research lab focuses on translational urological oncology, with a strong emphasis on understanding tumor heterogeneity and treatment resistance in bladder cancer through single-cell genomics and patient-derived xenograft models. The lab investigates the tumor microenvironment and cancer evolution to develop personalized therapeutic strategies, particularly for aggressive, chemotherapy-resistant urothelial carcinomas. Additionally, the lab explores minimally invasive surgical techniques and the role of natural compounds like green tea in urological diseases, including stone formation and cancer prevention.

We evaluated the role of retroperitoneal laparoscopic ureterolithotomy (RPLU) for upper ureter stones. Between February 1998 and July 2004, 12 patients (10 men and 2 women) underwent RPLU for upper ureter stones (mean size 18.1 mm, range 10-25). We report our initial experience with 100 laparoendoscopic single site (LESS) and hybrid LESS procedures for benign urologic disease.
