Professor Jeong Han-sin's research lab specializes in nuclear medicine and molecular imaging, with a focus on improving diagnostic accuracy in thyroid cancer and lymph node metastasis. The lab investigates advanced imaging techniques such as 18F-FDG PET/CT, ultrasonography, and contrast-enhanced CT for early detection and staging of head and neck cancers. Additionally, the lab explores the biological mechanisms of tumor angiogenesis and metastasis using innovative animal models, such as the chronic lymph node window, to study the vascular dynamics of metastatic lymph nodes. The integration of clinical imaging with translational research on cancer progression defines the lab’s multidisciplinary approach.

Ethanol sclerotherapy was used for 12 cases, with a success rate of 50.0% and a permanent complication rate of 8.3%. Surgical excision combined with embolization was used for 13 patients. Although all patients achieved successful resolution of their HNAVM after surgical excision, 15.4% suffered from permanent complications. In total, 16/20 patients (80.0%) eventually achieved a > or = 75% reduction in the size of their lesions.
