Professor Jeong-Hyun Cha's research lab focuses on molecular mechanisms underlying inflammatory diseases, metabolic syndrome, and bacterial pathogenesis, with a particular emphasis on host-pathogen interactions and signaling pathways involving NF-κB, TNF-α, and growth factor receptors. The lab investigates the therapeutic potential of natural compounds and targeted biologics—such as gallic acid, Korean Red Ginseng extract, and infliximab—in modulating inflammation, insulin resistance, and bone metabolism in preclinical models. A key area of innovation involves the identification and functional characterization of cellular receptors, including the diphtheria toxin receptor and CD9 as a coreceptor, enabling the development of novel animal models for infectious and immune diseases. The lab integrates molecular biology, cell signaling, and translational animal models to explore new targets and treatments for diabetes, periodontitis, and *H. pylori*-associated gastric disorders.
