Professor Ji-Hyun Ahn's research lab focuses on hepatology and clinical epidemiology, with a strong emphasis on the intersection of liver disease, cardiovascular comorbidities, and cognitive health in aging populations. The lab investigates the prevalence and risk factors of silent coronary artery disease in cirrhotic patients, the role of spontaneous portosystemic shunts in hepatic encephalopathy, and the long-term impact of cognitive function on mortality in elderly populations. Additionally, the lab explores systemic associations of chronic hepatitis B virus infection with non-liver cancers and the management of hepatocellular carcinoma with bile duct invasion. These studies reflect a multidisciplinary approach integrating clinical medicine, preventive health, and public health outcomes.
