Professor Jihyun Baek's research lab focuses on the neurobiological and clinical aspects of mood and anxiety disorders, with a particular emphasis on identifying biobehavioral markers, such as inflammatory markers, EEG patterns, and impulsivity, in mood-disordered populations. The lab investigates the mechanisms and management of treatment-related side effects—like lithium-induced tremor and antipsychotic-induced dyskinesias—while also exploring the role of circadian rhythms and sleep-wake cycle disruptions in bipolar disorder. Additionally, the lab examines the potential of complementary and alternative treatments, such as herbal medicines and Korean Red Ginseng, for anxiety, insomnia, and cognitive symptoms in psychiatric populations.
