Professor Jonghwa Kim's research lab focuses on host-microbe interactions, particularly the role of gut microbiota in immune-mediated diseases such as atopic dermatitis and liver fibrosis. The lab investigates microbial therapeutics, including fecal microbiota transplantation and lactic acid bacteria, to modulate host immunity and metabolism. Additionally, the lab explores viral restriction mechanisms, especially the function of TRIM5α in innate antiviral immunity, and the molecular mechanisms of host cell signaling in fibrotic diseases. These interdisciplinary studies integrate microbiology, immunology, virology, and host-pathogen interactions to develop novel therapeutic strategies.
