研究室紹介

Professor Ju-Hee Kim's research lab specializes in medical imaging and diagnostic radiology, with a focus on improving the accuracy of MRI and CT in the diagnosis and staging of gastrointestinal cancers. The lab investigates advanced imaging techniques for differentiating tumor types—particularly mucinous vs. nonmucinous rectal carcinomas, periampullary neoplasms, and colorectal cancer—while also exploring the diagnostic value of non-invasive modalities like MR cholangiography and CT colonography. A key research direction involves enhancing the clinical utility of cross-sectional imaging in preoperative assessment and treatment planning.

Differential Diagnosis of Periampullary Carcinomas at MR Imaging
Joo Hee Kim, Myeong‐Jin Kim, Jae Bock Chung, Woo Jung Lee, Hyung Sik Yoo, Jong Tae Lee
SJR Q1RadiographicsOA

Periampullary carcinomas arise within 2 cm of the major duodenal papilla and comprise carcinomas of the ampulla, distal common bile duct, pancreas, and duodenum. Their clinical features and anatomic locations are similar, as are the therapeutic approaches; however, their long-term outcomes vary. Magnetic resonance (MR) images of 89 pathologically proved periampullary carcinomas (29 ampullary carcinomas, 27 distal common bile duct carcinomas, 21 pancreatic carcinomas, six duodenal carcinomas, and

A comparative study on the antioxidative and anti‐allergic activities of fresh and aged black garlic extracts
Joo Hee Kim, Seok Hyun Nam, Catherine W. Rico, Mi Young Kang
SJR Q1International Journal of Food Science & TechnologyOA

Summary The antioxidative and anti‐allergic activities of fresh and aged black garlic extracts were investigated. The garlic samples were extracted with 70% ethanol (v/v) and the total phenolic content was measured. The antioxidant capacity of extracts was assessed by determining the scavenging activities on 1,1‐diphenyl‐2‐picrylhydrazyl and hydroxyl radicals, ferricyanide reducing power, ferrous ion‐chelating ability and inhibitory effect on linoleic acid peroxidation. The anti‐allergic activit

Accuracy in Differentiation of Mucinous and Nonmucinous Rectal Carcinoma on MR Imaging
Myeong‐Jin Kim, Jeong Seon Park, Sung Il Park, Nam Kyu Kim, Joo Hee Kim, Hee Jung Moon, Young Nyun Park, Won Ho Kim
SJR Q3Journal of Computer Assisted Tomography

PURPOSE: The purpose of this work was to determine the diagnostic accuracy of MRI for the differentiation of mucinous and nonmucinous carcinomas in patients with rectal carcinomas. METHOD: Seventy-six patients with pathologically proven rectal adenocarcinomas were evaluated with MRI. Both T2-weighted fast spin echo and T1-weighted spin echo images were independently reviewed by two radiologists who were blinded for tumor histology. Of the 76 cases, mucin pools were found in 28 (37%), and 16 had

SJR Q2Yonsei Medical JournalOA

PURPOSE: We sought to evaluate the clinical usefulness of CT colonography (CTC) after incomplete conventional colonoscopy (CC) for occlusive colorectal cancer (CRC) according to the tumor location. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Seventy-five patients with occlusive CRC underwent subsequent CTC immediately after incomplete CC. Fifty-nine patients had distal CRC and 16 had proximal colon cancer. Experienced radiologists prospectively analyzed the location, length, and TNM staging of the main tumor. The co

PURPOSE: To evaluate the different signal characteristics of focal hepatic lesions on ferumoxides-enhanced MR imaging, including T1-weighted spoiled gradient recalled echo (GRE) images using different echo times (TE) and T2- and T2*-weighted images. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Ferumoxides-enhanced MR imaging was performed using a 1.5-T system in 46 patients who were referred for evaluation of known or suspected hepatic malignancies. Annular Pancreas
Jin‐Young Choi, Myeong‐Jin Kim, Joo Hee Kim, Joon Seok Lim, Young Taik Oh, Jae Bock Chung, Si Young Song, Jae Bock Chung, Hyung Sik Yoo, Jong Tae Lee, Ki Whang Kim
SJR Q3Journal of Computer Assisted Tomography

An annular pancreas is a rare congenital anomaly in which a portion of the pancreatic tissue surrounds the duodenum. Magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography (MRCP) is used extensively for evaluating the pancreatobiliary ducts. There have been only few cases in which MRCP clearly demonstrated the types of annular ducts, however. Two cases of an annular pancreas based on a new classification of the morphologic type are reported.

SJR Q1Biomolecules & TherapeuticsOA

Anticoagulant drugs, like vitamin K antagonists and heparin, have been the mainstay for the treatment and prevention of venous thromboembolic disease for many years. Although effective if appropriately used, traditional anticoagulants have several limitations such as unpredictable pharmacologic and pharmacokinetic responses and various adverse effects including serious bleeding complications. New oral anticoagulants have recently emerged as an alternative because of their rapid onset/offset of a
