Professor Jung Hyun Lee's research lab focuses on molecular mechanisms underlying metabolic regulation, stem cell biology, and cancer progression, with a particular emphasis on lipid metabolism, insulin signaling, and tumor microenvironment in human diseases. The lab investigates key regulatory proteins such as LID-1 in lipolysis and CD99 in gastric cancer, exploring their roles in metabolic homeostasis and tumorigenesis. Additionally, the lab examines the interplay between metabolic dysfunction, neurodegeneration, and systemic conditions like hyperuricemia in pediatric populations. These studies integrate molecular biology, cell signaling, and translational research to uncover novel therapeutic targets.

We sequenced the complete plastid genome (plastome) for Piper kadsura, a woody vine endemic to East Asia. This species is part of the largest genus within Piperaceae and its genome is almost identical to its congener P. cenocladum.
