研究室紹介

Professor Kang Jung Won's research lab specializes in regenerative medicine and translational biomedicine, with a focus on mesenchymal stem cells—particularly adipose tissue-derived MSCs—for immunomodulation and tissue regeneration. The lab also investigates natural compounds and plant-derived molecules for their anti-adipogenic and anti-platelet effects, aiming to develop novel therapeutic agents for metabolic and cardiovascular diseases. In parallel, the lab explores robotics and intelligent systems, especially omni-directional mobile robots for industrial and assistive applications, emphasizing mobility, safety, and real-world usability in complex environments.

Soluble Factors–Mediated Immunomodulatory Effects of Canine Adipose Tissue–Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells
Jung Won Kang, Kyung‐Sun Kang, Hye Cheong Koo, Jeong Ran Park, Eun Wha Choi, Yong Ho Park
SJR Q2Stem Cells and Development

Adipose tissue-derived mesenchymal stem cells (AD-MSCs), which can differentiate into several lineages, have immunomodulatory properties similar to those of bone marrow-derived MSCs. However, the specific mechanism by which the immunomodulatory effect of MSCs occurs is not clear. In this study, we isolated canine AD-MSCs (cAD-MSCs) and induced their development into adipocyte, osteocyte, and neuron-like cells. We then investigated their phenotype and cytokine expression to determine whether they

T'ai chi for the treatment of osteoarthritis: a systematic review and meta-analysis
Jung Won Kang, Myeong Soo Lee, Paul Posadzki, Edzard Ernst
SJR Q1BMJ OpenOA

Objectives To summarise and critically evaluate the evidence from randomised clinical trials (RCTs) of t'ai chi as a treatment for patients with osteoarthritis (OA). Design Eleven databases were searched from their inception to July 2010. RCTs testing t'ai chi against any type of controls in human patients with OA localised in any joints that assessed any type of clinical outcome measures were considered. Two reviewers independently performed the selection of the studies, data abstraction and va

Evidence-based Complementary and Alternative MedicineOA

This study was conducted to explore the antiadipogenic effect and possible mechanism of Gambisan on 3T3-L1 cells. For quality control, Gambisan was standardized by HPLC and the standard compounds ephedrine, epigallocatechin-3-gallate, and caffeine were screened. Cultured 3T3-L1 cells that had been induced to differentiate were treated with various concentrations of Gambisan or its major component extracts (Ephedra intermedia Schrenk, Atractylodes lancea DC., and Thea sinensis L.) for 72 hours fo

Path Planning for Complete and Efficient Coverage Operation of Mobile Robots
Jung Won Kang, Si Jong Kim, Myung Jin Chung, Hyun Myung, Jun Ho Park, Seok Won Bang

This paper presents a complete and efficient coverage path planning method for mobile robots. Its applications include robots for de-mining, cleaning, painting and so on. When a mobile robot performs area coverage task, completeness and efficiency of coverage are important factors. To achieve completeness easily, we adopt a divide and conquer strategy. We developed a novel cell decomposition algorithm that divides a given area into several cells. To achieve efficiency, each cell is covered by a

Development of omni-directional mobile robots with mecanum wheels assisting the disabled in a factory environment
Jung Won Kang, Bong‐Sung Kim, Myung Jin Chung

This paper shows omni-directional mobile robots that help the disabled to work in a factory environment. The functions of the robot were determined based on varied survey results. According to the survey results, the robot should be able to move freely in small and narrow spaces. To satisfy this condition, mecanum wheels were used for our robots. The mobility in small spaces, user convenience of controlling the robot, and user safety were considered in the development process of the robots. The

Anti‐platelet Activity of Erythro‐(7S,8R)‐7‐acetoxy‐3,4,3′,5′‐tetramethoxy‐8‐O‐4′‐neolignan from Myristica fragrans
Jung Won Kang, Byung‐Sun Min, Jeong‐Hyung Lee
SJR Q1Phytotherapy Research

Platelets play a critical role in pathogenesis of cardiovascular disorders and strokes. The inhibition of platelet function is beneficial for the treatment and prevention of these diseases. In this study, we investigated the anti-platelet activity of erythro-(7S,8R)-7-acetoxy-3,4,3',5'-tetramethoxy-8-O-4'-neolignan (EATN), a neolignan isolated from Myristica fragrans, using human platelets. EATN preferentially inhibited thrombin- and platelet-activating factor (PAF)-induced platelet aggregation

Development of Assistive Mobile Robots Helping the Disabled Work in a Factory Environment
Jung Won Kang, Bong‐Sung Kim, Myung Jin Chung

This paper introduces assistive mobile robots that help the disabled to work in a factory environment. The target users and the functions of the robot were determined based on varied survey results. The robots were developed through an iterative process of designing, development and evaluation. As a result, three assistive mobile robots were developed. The first version of the robot focused on the various functions. The robot is equipped with a robot arm and a forklift to support various tasks f

Improvement of Luminous Efficacy and Driving Characteristics in AC Plasma Display by Changing the Bus Position
Jung Won Kang
SJR Q2IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices

Two different ac plasma displays having different bus electrode position were simulated using two-dimensional fluid code. In a conventional plasma display, the bus electrode was located at the outer part of each cell. However, in a proposed structure (hereinafter the in-bus), the bus electrode was positioned at the inner part of each cell. The differences in electron density, Xe/sup */(/sup 3/P/sub 1/) density and wall charge distributions between the conventional and the in-bus structures were

SJR Q4Defect and diffusion forum/Diffusion and defect data, solid state data. Part A, Defect and diffusion forumOA

TiO2 nanoparticles were synthesized from a triethylene glycol solution of titanium isopropoxide (Ti(O-iPr)4) by refluxing at 270°C for 12 hrs. The as-prepared sample was heated at 600 °C for 3 hrs in order to study the thermal stability of the sample. The X-ray diffraction patterns of the samples were well indexed to the anatase phase. The field emission TEM images show uniform spherical morphologies with average sizes of 25 nm. The electrochemical measurements revealed that the discharge capaci

SJR Q1PLoS ONEOA

INTRODUCTION: Firefighters, compared to other occupational groups, are exposed more frequently in their working environment not only to physical issues, such as musculoskeletal disease, respiratory disease, and burns but also to mental health issues, such as PTSD and depression. Specifically, Korean firefighters experience significantly higher rates of work-related injuries compared to those in other countries. Recent statistics from the Korea National Fire Agency indicate a steady increase in t
