Professor Kang Kyung Ho's research lab specializes in translational biomedical research and health technology innovation, with a focus on prostaglandin biology, cancer immunology, and minimally invasive surgical techniques. The lab investigates the role of bioactive lipid mediators—such as 8-epi-PGF2α and PGE2—in vascular and immune regulation, particularly in the context of cancer immune evasion and tumor microenvironment modulation. Additionally, the lab explores the clinical applications and outcomes of robotic surgery, especially in thyroid and neck dissection procedures. The integration of molecular mechanisms with clinical surgical outcomes defines the lab’s interdisciplinary approach.

15The effects of 8-epi-prostaglandin (PG) F2 alpha, a recently discovered noncyclooxygenase free radical-catalyzed product of arachidonic acid, on pulmonary vascular and airway tone, its potency, and its mechanism of action were studied. Progressively increasing bolus doses (1.0, 5.0, 10.0, and 20.0 micrograms) of 8-epi-PGF2 alpha were injected into the pulmonary artery catheter of 18 isolated rat lungs, and a single dose (40.0 micrograms) was injected into 7 additional rat lungs. The lungs were p
Prostaglandin (PGE2), synthesized by cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), is associated with cellular immune tolerance during the process of cancer development. Induction of tolerance requires a specific environment in which dendritic cells and regulatory T cells (Tregs) play an essential role. It was recently shown that maturation of dendritic cells in the presence of indoleamine 2, 3-dioxygenase (IDO) results in activation of Tregs, and inhibition of COX-2 activity regulated IDO expression within the tum
Purpose This study aims to examine the effects of different dimensions of national culture on corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities of hospitality firms, including lodging, casino and restaurant firms. Design/methodology/approach This study performs a panel regression analysis to examine the effect of Hofstede’s national culture dimensions on the total CSR score, positive CSR score and negative CSR of the sampled hospitality firms. The sample period spans fiscal years 1993 to 2011and
BACKGROUND: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the safety of robotic modified radical neck dissection compared to open modified radical neck dissection. METHODS: We enrolled 78 patients who were diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer and underwent total thyroidectomy, bilateral central neck dissection, and modified radical neck dissection between March 2011 and February 2013. Of these patients, 65 underwent an open procedure and 13 underwent a robotic procedure using the bilateral axilla
BABA robotic thyroidectomy revealed that a less-extensive CND was obtained when compared with an open procedure. BABA may be suitable for thyroid cancer without lymphadenopathy in central neck compartment. Conversely, BABA should not be recommended to a patient with thyroid cancer when multiple lymph node metastases in the lower central neck compartment are suspected.
Abstract Although geographical diversification is an emerging issue and has been considered a key competitive strategy in the casino industry, an examination of the effects of geographical diversification on casino firms’ risks and firm performances has been sparse. Thus, this study investigates the impact of the degree of geographical diversification on risk measured by the standard deviation of daily stock returns and firm performance measured by Tobin's q of publicly traded US casino firms. INTRODUCTION: Poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) participates in inflammation by cellular necrosis and the nuclear factor-kappa-B (NF-kappaB)-dependent transcription. The purpose of this study was to examine the roles of PARP in ventilator-induced lung injury (VILI) in normal mice lung. METHODS: Male C57BL/6 mice were divided into four groups: sham tracheostomized (sham), lung-protective ventilation (LPV), VILI, and VILI with PARP inhibitor PJ34 pretreatment (PJ34+VILI) groups. Mechanical venti
In spite of varying brand portfolio strategies employed by restaurant firms in response to the constant growth of the restaurant industry, research on the effect of brand diversification on the performance of restaurant firms has been rare. This study examines the impact of the degree of brand diversification among sampled publicly traded US restaurants. The results show a consistent, significant and negative effect from the degree of brand diversification on the performance of the sampled resta
