Professor Ki Young Na's research lab focuses on renal pathophysiology, particularly the molecular mechanisms underlying kidney function and injury in conditions such as nephrogenic diabetes insipidus, chronic kidney disease, and hypertonic stress. The lab investigates cellular responses to osmotic stress, including the role of transcription factors like TonEBP/NFAT5 and HSP70 in mediating adaptation in the renal medulla. Additional research explores the effects of diuretics and DPP-IV inhibitors on renal transporters, fibrosis, and oxidative stress, with a strong emphasis on translational insights into metabolic and kidney diseases in aging and diabetic populations. The lab integrates molecular biology, animal models, and clinical epidemiology to understand the interplay between metabolism, body composition, and renal outcomes.
