研究室紹介

Professor Kyung Hee Jo's research lab specializes in biomedical engineering and clinical neuroscience, focusing on the development of advanced diagnostic tools for cerebrovascular diseases and infectious liver conditions. The lab investigates the pathophysiology of cardioembolic stroke using neuroimaging techniques such as susceptibility vessel sign (SVS) on T2*-weighted GRE MRI, while also pioneering nanosensor technologies for early detection of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg). Research spans from clinical stroke mechanisms to innovative field-effect transistor (FET)-based aptasensors using conductive nanofilms.

Significance of Susceptibility Vessel Sign on T2*-Weighted Gradient Echo Imaging for Identification of Stroke Subtypes

SJR Q1Stroke

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: In contrast to platelet-rich white thrombi, red thrombi in the heart are rich in fibrin and trapped erythrocytes. The magnetic susceptibility effect of deoxygenated hemoglobin in red thrombi may result in hypointense signals on T2*-weighted gradient echo imaging (GRE). We tested the hypothesis that a GRE susceptibility vessel sign (SVS) is specific for cardioembolic stroke. METHODS: This retrospective study examined data from acute ischemic stroke patients who underwent d

SJR Q1ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces

Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is a major worldwide health issue causing serious liver diseases, including liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. Monitoring the serum hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) level is pivotal to the diagnosis of HBV infection. In this study, we describe multidimensional conductive nanofilm (MCNF)-based field-effect transistor (FET) aptasensor for HBsAg detection. The MCNF, composed of vertically oriented carboxylic polypyrrole nanowires (CPPyNW) and graphene

SJR Q1Journal of Neurology Neurosurgery & Psychiatry

The results suggest that perforating arteries arising from the distal M1 segment are related to infarcts involving the upper part of pyramidal tract, while those from proximal segment are related to lower lesions.

Embolic Infarction Associated with Cardiac Amyloidosis
Kyung‐Hee Cho, Yong Mee Cho, Jong S. Kim
SJR Q2Journal of Clinical NeurologyOA

Embolic cerebral infarction due to cardiac amyloidosis is rare. We report two patients with amyloidosis who developed cerebral infarcts. These embolic infarcts were probably related to cardiac involvement of amyloidosis, which was based on results of myocardial biopsy (Patient 1), and kidney biopsy and characteristic echocardiographic features including granular sparkling, restrictive cardiomyopathy and the presence of mural thrombus (Patient 2). Diffuse amyloid infiltration of the heart may hav

Factors and Outcomes Associated with Recanalization Timing after Thrombolysis
Kyung‐Hee Cho, Deok Hee Lee, Sun U. Kwon, Choong Gon Choi, Sang Joon Kim, Dae Chul Suh, Jong S. Kim, Dong‐Wha Kang
SJR Q2Cerebrovascular Diseases

BACKGROUND: A substantial number of acute stroke patients do not respond immediately to aggressive intra-arterial (IA) recanalization therapy. The factors and outcomes associated with timing of recanalization after IA thrombolysis, however, have not yet been determined. METHODS: Factors and outcomes in 75 acute ischemic stroke patients treated with IA urokinase (± intravenous tissue plasminogen activator) within 6 h of onset were retrospectively assessed. Immediate recanalization (IR) was assess

Korean Journal of StrokeOA

Since the release of first Korean Clinical Practice Guideline of Stroke in 2009, many important new evidences have emerged in the field of thrombolytic therapy. Among the recent developments are the extended therapeutic time window of intravenous (IV) tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) up to 4.5 hours after onset, and the efforts for the wider application of IV thrombolysis to patients with minor stroke and elderly patients over 80 years old. Debates about the optimal dose of IV tPA according to
