Professor Kyung-Soo Kim's research lab focuses on the pathophysiological roles of metabolic and inflammatory mediators in chronic diseases, particularly type 2 diabetes, obesity, and rheumatoid arthritis. The lab investigates bioactive compounds such as adiponectin, piperine, and taurine to understand their dual roles in metabolism and inflammation, with an emphasis on their therapeutic potential. Key research directions include the regulation of adipokines, matrix metalloproteinases, and pro-inflammatory cytokines in joint and metabolic tissues, as well as the development of novel therapeutic strategies targeting toll-like receptors and insulin resistance.
