研究室紹介

Professor Lee Maria's research lab specializes in translational oncology, focusing on molecular mechanisms underlying gynecological cancers, particularly ovarian and cervical cancer. The lab investigates non-coding RNAs, such as lncRNAs and miRNAs, in cancer progression and prognosis, and develops innovative diagnostic tools like electrically conductive microfluidic chips for circulating tumor cell (CTC) detection. Key research directions include identifying biomarkers for early detection, understanding the impact of germline BRCA mutations on ovarian cancer outcomes, and exploring the clinical implications of treatment-related side effects on sexual health and endometrial safety in breast cancer survivors.

SJR Q2OncotargetOA

Evidence suggests that the long non-coding RNA (lncRNA), HOTAIR, is involved in cervical cancer pathogenesis. We examined serum HOTAIR expression levels in cervical cancer patients and determined the relationships between HOTAIR expression and several clinicopathological factors, including survival. We also examined the functional consequences of HOTAIR overexpression both in vitro and in vivo. Compared with control patients, HOTAIR expression was significantly greater in the serum of cervical c

SJR Q1Gynecologic OncologyOA

OBJECTIVE: To test an electrically conductive chip, incorporating a nanoroughened microfluidic platform for the capture of circulating tumor cells (CTCs), and assess its clinical merit in instances of epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC). METHODS: A total of 54 patients with EOC recruited between August 2014 and May 2015 were enrolled in this prospective study. CTCs in peripheral blood were detected in advance of primary tumor resection and before initiating adjuvant chemotherapy for recurrent diseas

SJR Q1Journal of Ovarian ResearchOA

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate impact of germline BRCA mutational status on prognosis in patients with advanced ovarian cancer. METHODS: A total of 128 patients diagnosed with FIGO stage III-IV high-grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) between 2008 and 2017 and underwent BRCA1/2 gene testing at the time of or within two years from cancer diagnosis were included in this study. We compared patients' clinicopathological characteristics and survival outcomes after primary treatment according to germline BRCA

MicroRNAs 125a and 125b inhibit ovarian cancer cells through post-transcriptional inactivation of EIF4EBP1
Maria Lee, Eun Jae Kim, Myung Jae Jeon
SJR Q2OncotargetOA

The aim of the present study was to identify the specific miRNAs involved in regulation of EIF4EBP1 expression in ovarian cancer and to define their biological function. miRNA mimics and miRNA inhibitors were used in quantitative PCR, western blotting, and luciferase reporter assays to assess cell migration, invasiveness, and viability. miR-125a and miR-125b were downregulated in ovarian cancer tissue and cell lines relative to healthy controls. Increased expression of miR-125a and miR-125b inhi

Risk Factors Associated with Endometrial Pathology in Premenopausal Breast Cancer Patients Treated with Tamoxifen

In premenopausal BC patients treated with tamoxifen, abnormal uterine bleeding, increased endometrial thickness, and chemotherapy for BC were associated with the occurrence of endometrial cancer. These findings may provide useful information for gynecologic surveillance and counseling during tamoxifen treatment in premenopausal BC patients.
