Professor Minjung Lee's research lab focuses on translational biomedical research, particularly in chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection, hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), and the molecular mechanisms of viral latency and DNA repair deficiency in cancer. The lab investigates host-virus interactions, especially involving Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), and explores natural compounds like those from licorice for antiviral and anti-tumor effects. Additionally, the lab contributes to neuroimaging research in autism spectrum disorders, analyzing functional brain connectivity patterns using large-scale neuroimaging datasets.

Poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase inhibitors (PARPi) have shown clinical activity in patients with germline BRCA1/2 mutation (gBRCAm)-associated breast and ovarian cancers. Accumulating evidence suggests that PARPi may have a wider application in the treatment of cancers defective in DNA damage repair pathways, such as prostate, lung, endometrial, and pancreatic cancers. Several PARPi are currently in phase I/II clinical investigation, as single-agents and/or combination therapy in these solid tumors.

BACKGROUND: The efficacy of adefovir dipivoxil (ADV) or entecavir (ETV) rescue monotherapy has not been directly compared in hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg)-positive patients with lamivudine (3TC)-resistant chronic hepatitis B (CHB). We compared the efficacy of ADV and ETV rescue monotherapy in HBeAg-positive patients with confirmed genotypic 3TC resistance.
