Professor Sanghyun Lee's research lab focuses on molecular mechanisms underlying human diseases, with a strong emphasis on cancer biology, neurodegenerative disorders, and metabolic regulation in agricultural systems. The lab investigates key cellular processes such as cell cycle regulation, protein degradation, and oxidative stress responses, particularly in the context of tumorigenesis and neuronal excitotoxicity. It also explores translational applications in agriculture, aiming to improve smallholder farmer livelihoods through market participation and food loss and waste reduction. The lab integrates molecular biology, animal models, and socio-economic analysis to address both biomedical and global sustainability challenges.

Cyclin D1 regulates G1 progression. Its transcriptional regulation is well understood. However, the mechanism underlying cyclin D1 ubiquitination and its subsequent degradation is not yet clear.
