研究室紹介

Professor Sangil Min's research lab specializes in clinical pharmacology and translational medicine with a focus on optimizing immunosuppressive therapy in kidney transplantation. The lab investigates pharmacogenomics, particularly CYP3A5 polymorphisms, to personalize tacrolimus dosing and improve graft outcomes. It also explores medication adherence, intrapatient variability of drug levels, and vascularization strategies in tissue engineering to enhance long-term allograft survival and function. Additionally, the lab contributes to improving vascular access for hemodialysis and advancing deceased organ donation systems in Korea.

This study analyzed the association between medication adherence and the intrapatient variability (IPV) of tacrolimus concentrations among kidney transplant recipients through a post hoc analysis of the dataset from a recently conducted randomized controlled trial. Among 138 patients enrolled in the original trial, 92 patients with ≥ 5 months of medication event monitoring system (MEMS) use and ≥ 4 tacrolimus trough values were included in this post hoc analysis. The variability of tacrolimus tr

State-of-the-Art Strategies for the Vascularization of Three-Dimensional Engineered Organs
Sangil Min, In Kap Ko, James J. Yoo
SJR Q3Vascular Specialist InternationalOA

Engineering three-dimensional (3D) implantable tissue constructs is a promising strategy for replacing damaged or diseased tissues and organs with functional replacements. However, the efficient vascularization of new 3D organs is a major scientific and technical challenge since large tissue constructs or organs require a constant blood supply to survive in vivo. Current approaches to solving this problem generally fall into the following three major categories: (a) cell-based, (b) angiogenic fa

SJR Q1Clinical Journal of the American Society of NephrologyOA

Background and objectives Use of arteriovenous fistulas, the most preferred type of access for hemodialysis, is limited by their high maturation failure rate. The aim of this study was to assess whether aggressive surveillance with routine duplex ultrasound and intervention can decrease the maturation failure rate of arteriovenous fistulas. Design, setting, participants, & measurements We conducted a single–center, parallel–group, randomized, controlled trial of patients undergoing autogenou

Association of Intrapatient Variability of Tacrolimus Concentration With Early Deterioration of Chronic Histologic Lesions in Kidney Transplantation

SJR Q2Transplantation DirectOA

Background. High intrapatient variability (IPV) of tacrolimus (Tac) is increasingly recognized as a risk factor for poor graft outcomes in kidney transplantation. The timing of onset of its impact on kidney histologic lesions has not been investigated. Methods. We analyzed the adverse effect of Tac IPV using the coefficient of variability from 6 to 12 months posttransplantation on long-term outcomes in a cohort of 671 kidney recipients and on the evolution of chronic histologic lesions in a coho

BACKGROUND: There is a growing concern about the therapeutic equivalence of the generic tacrolimus formulation (GEN Tacrolimus) to the reference tacrolimus (REF Tacrolimus) in solid organ transplantation. METHODS: A prospective, randomized study of 126 de novo renal transplant patients was conducted to compare the efficacy, safety and pharmacokinetic (PK) profiles between GEN tacrolimus (n = 63) and REF tacrolimus (n = 63). The PK of tacrolimus was evaluated on Day 10 and 6 months under steady-s

Trends in Deceased Organ Donation and Utilization in Korea: 2000-2009
Sangil Min, Seong Yup Kim, Yang‐Jin Park, Seung‐Kee Min, Yon Su Kim, Curie Ahn, Sang Joon Kim, Jongwon Ha
SJR Q2Journal of Korean Medical ScienceOA

Continuous efforts have been made by the organ donation and transplantation community in Korea to increase organ donation by the deceased. The authors detailed trends of organ donation and utilization over the past 10 yr using data provided by the KONOS. The yearly number of deceased donors has grown gradually since 2003. The number and percentage of old donors (> or = 50 yr) and donors dying from intracranial hemorrhage has increased continuously. Therefore, the percentage of standard criteria

Sequential evolution of IL-17 responses in the early period of allograft rejection

SJR Q1Experimental & Molecular MedicineOA

In addition to CD4+CD25+Foxp3+ regulatory T (T(reg)) cells which protect against autoimmune tissue injury, IL-17-producing CD4+ T (T(h)17) cells have been recently described and shown to play a crucial role in autoimmune injury. It appears that there is a reciprocal developmental pathway between T(h)17 and T(reg) cells. Although IL-17 is known to be associated with allograft rejection, the cellular source of IL-17 and the nature of T(h)17 in the context of allograft rejection remain unknown. In
