研究室紹介

Professor Seul Ki Kim's research lab specializes in reproductive medicine and biomedical electrochemistry, focusing on improving outcomes in female infertility and endometriosis management. The lab investigates biomarkers such as CA 125 and inflammatory indicators in endometriosis, evaluates hormonal therapies like dienogest for symptom relief and quality of life, and explores advanced diagnostic tools such as Doppler ultrasonography for predicting assisted reproductive technology (ART) success. Additionally, the lab develops electrochemical biosensors using nanomaterials—such as modified carbon nanotubes and porphyrin-based electrodes—for sensitive detection of neuroactive compounds like serotonin, supporting both reproductive and neurological research.

The severity of endometriosis was not associated with the serum level of CA 125 or the NLR. The presence of a negative correlation between the severity of endometriosis and red blood cell dynamics needs further investigation.

The results of this meta-analysis of the currently available literature suggest that the administration of an oxytocin antagonist on the day of ET improves the implantation rate but not the clinical pregnancy rate or miscarriage rate. Additional, large-scale, prospective, randomized studies are necessary to confirm these findings.

Determination of Serotonin on a Glassy Carbon Electrode Modified by Electropolymerization of Meso-Tetrakis(2-aminophenyl)porphyrin and Single Walled Carbon Nanotubes

Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology

A chemically modified electrode [poly(TAPP)-SWNT/GCE] was prepared by electropolymerization of meso-tetrakis(2-aminophenyl)porphyrin (TAPP)-single walled carbon nanotubes (SWNT) on the surface of a glassy carbon electrode (GCE). This modified electrode was employed as an electrochemical biosensor for the determination of serotonin concentration and exhibited a typical enhance effect on the current response of serotonin and lower oxidation overpotential. The biosensor was very effective to determ

Symptom-alleviating effect and adverse effect of dienogest in Korean women with endometriosis

SJR Q2Gynecological Endocrinology

The purpose was to evaluate the effects of dienogest on Korean women with endometriosis. A cross-sectional questionnaire-based survey was conducted for 100 premenopausal women. They had taken or were taking 2 mg of dienogest daily. We assessed the pelvic pain score and quality-of-life (QOL) score before and after taking dienogest as well as the prevalence of short-term (≤12 weeks) and long-term adverse effects (>52 weeks). Patients were classified into three groups: dienogest treatment immediate

SJR Q2Obstetrics & Gynecology ScienceOA

Herein, we report a case of successful mature oocyte retrieval during laparotomy after random-start controlled ovarian stimulation (COS) in a 21-year-old nulliparous woman with suspected recurrent ovarian immature teratoma. The patient had been diagnosed with stage IIIC immature teratoma two years earlier following a staging operation, including right oophorectomy and left ovarian cystectomy. And she had subsequently undergone four rounds of postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy with bleomycin, et

SJR Q2Obstetrics & Gynecology ScienceOA

This study reviewed recent advances in the use of Doppler ultrasonography for the management and prediction of female infertility outcomes of assisted reproductive technology (ART). Color or power Doppler and three-dimensional power Doppler ultrasound can be used to measure vessels near the ovaries, uterus, and endometrium to assess blood flow. Increased blood flow and reduced resistance to the ovaries, uterus, and endometrium are associated with improved pregnancy outcomes, and their measuremen

SJR Q2Gynecological Endocrinology

This study aimed to analyze the effects of a new protocol with letrozole on the outcomes of in vitro fertilization (IVF) cycles in women with endometriosis. This retrospective cohort study was conducted for women diagnosed with endometriosis undergoing IVF from an infertility clinic. A new protocol, combination therapy with letrozole and gonadotropin, was used from August 2016 to January 2018 (‘protocol 1’, n = 38). From March 2014 to July 2016, conventional IVF with gonadotropin was administere

Simultaneous Determination of Serotonin and Dopamine at the PEDOP/MWCNTs–Pd Nanoparticle Modified Glassy Carbon Electrode
Seul Ki Kim, Seungwon Jeon
Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology

Electrochemical determination of dopamine (DA) and serotonin (5-HT) have been studied at a modified glassy carbon electrode (GCE) in 0.1 M phosphate buffer solution (PBS) using cyclic voltammetry (CV) and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) at pH 7.4, all over the interfering biomolecule ascorbic acid (AA). The GCE was modified by palladium-functionalized, multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs-Pd) with electrochemical deposition of poly 3,4-ethylenedioxy pyrrole (PEDOP), denoted as PEDOP/MWCNTs
