Professor Seung-Hyuk Seok's research lab focuses on nanotoxicology and immunomodulatory mechanisms, particularly investigating the in vivo behavior and biological impacts of engineered nanoparticles such as TiO₂ and ZnO. The lab explores the role of immune cells—especially macrophages and tumor-associated macrophages—in disease progression, metastasis, and therapeutic responses, with a strong emphasis on metabolic reprogramming and signaling pathways like COX-2 and GM-CSF. Using advanced models including microfluidic platforms and in vivo toxicity studies, the lab aims to decipher the pre-metastatic niche formation and develop novel immunomodulatory strategies for cancer and inflammatory diseases.
