Professor Seung-Keun Yeo's research lab focuses on clinical and translational studies in otorhinolaryngology, with a strong emphasis on the impact of systemic factors—such as metabolic health, nutrition, and aging—on hearing and facial nerve function. The lab investigates the pathophysiology of sensorineural hearing loss, Bell's palsy, and benign neck cysts, exploring both medical and minimally invasive interventions. Key research directions include the role of micronutrients and metabolic syndrome in auditory and neurological outcomes, as well as the efficacy of sclerotherapy using OK-432 for recurrent cystic lesions.

Hearing loss (HL) is a major public health problem. Nutritional factors can affect a variety of diseases, such as HL, in humans. Thus far, several studies have evaluated the association between nutrition and hearing. Age was correlated with all VEMP parameters. Latency of p13, n23 showed a negative correlation and amplitude of p13-n23 showed a positive correlation with age. Differences between the right and left sides were not significant.
The rate of recovery from SSNHL was lower among patients with metabolic syndrome than among those without metabolic syndrome, and prognosis was poorer in patients with 4 or more diagnostic factors of the metabolic syndrome.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: In general, benign neck cysts are treated by surgical excision. This can present technical difficulties and frequent recurrences, because of insufficient surgery. The prevalence of hearing loss increases with age and the presence of DM. Hearing loss was greatest at high frequencies. In all age groups, mild hearing loss was the most common form of hearing loss.
The mean age of the 11 patients with multiple cranial neuropathy (6 men, 5 women) was 49.2 ± 19.4 years, although 7 were aged 50 years or older.
