Professor Seung Yong Song's research lab specializes in regenerative medicine and plastic and reconstructive surgery, with a strong focus on adipose-derived stem cells (ASCs) and their therapeutic potential in tissue repair and regeneration. The lab investigates both the paracrine signaling and differentiation capacity of ASCs, exploring pharmacological modulators like megestrol acetate to enhance their proliferation and regenerative functions. Additionally, the lab conducts clinical and translational research in craniofacial reconstruction, including innovative fixation techniques for frontal sinus fractures using absorbable materials, and contributes to ophthalmic infection research, particularly in rare bacterial endophthalmitis cases.

15Most studies of stem cell regeneration have focused on differentiation of ASCs and their building block function; however, the paracrine effects of ASCs should also be the focus of attention.
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Recently developed laser lipolysis systems have been disappointing because they require more time to remove the same amount of fat than other liposuction methods. PURPOSE: To report an epidemic of O. anthropi pseudophakic endophthalmitis. METHODS: The medical records of nine patients with culture-proven O. anthropi endophthalmitis were reviewed. We demonstrated that hypofractionated RT with VMAT served to reduce radiation-related morbidities in prosthetic reconstruction from a clinicopathologic perspective, compared to conventional RT. It may offer a practical strategy to mitigate radiation-related complications in clinical settings.
Gossypiboma must be considered when fever, unilateral swelling, tenderness, or unhealed oral wound is sustained despite an antibiotics therapy and a drainage procedure after a mandible angle surgery. In that case, a computed tomographic scan can be recommended as an effective method for detection of gossypiboma.
