Professor Suk-Won Park's research lab focuses on metabolic and musculoskeletal health in aging populations, with a particular emphasis on type 2 diabetes, body composition changes, and their interplay with bone health, muscle mass, and thyroid function. The lab investigates diabetes-related complications, including falls and sarcopenia, using longitudinal cohort studies and advanced imaging techniques. Research also extends to metabolic risk prediction, including the development of diabetes screening tools and the role of adipocytokines and inflammatory markers in diabetes pathogenesis. The lab’s work is grounded in epidemiological and clinical data from diverse older adult populations, especially in Asian and Korean cohorts.
