Professor Sung Bae Park's research lab specializes in spinal surgery and orthopedic research, with a focus on osteoporosis-related spinal disorders, spinal fusion techniques, and the development of effective surgical strategies for elderly patients. The lab investigates bone metabolism, particularly the balance between bone resorption and formation, to improve outcomes in spinal surgery for osteoporotic patients. It also conducts clinical and preclinical studies using animal models to evaluate surgical interventions and long-term reoperation rates in degenerative lumbar spine diseases.

15The prevalence of osteoporosis has been increasing globally. Recently surgical indications for elderly patients with osteoporosis have been increasing.
