Professor Sung Lee's research lab specializes in spinal surgery and neurosurgical outcomes, with a focus on improving patient safety and long-term results following spinal interventions. Key research directions include the identification and management of postoperative complications such as epidural hematoma and heterotopic ossification after cervical artificial disc replacement. The lab also investigates prognostic factors and molecular markers in primary spinal cord gliomas, particularly in the context of the updated WHO classification. Additionally, the lab explores the application of advanced surgical technologies, such as the da Vinci Surgical System, in spinal procedures to enhance precision and reduce complications.

Occurrence of HO is an inevitable postoperative complication after cervical ADR. The occurrence rate of HO was higher than our expectation. Moreover, definite differences in occurrence rate according to the prosthesis type were identified by this study.

In this study, we designed and fabricated a multilayered fibrous scaffold capable of the controlled release of multiple growth factors for sciatic nerve regeneration in rats.
