研究室紹介

Professor Sung Min Kim's research lab specializes in advanced materials and catalysis for sustainable energy and environmental applications. The lab focuses on developing novel catalysts—particularly bimetallic and nanostructured systems—for carbon dioxide and methane utilization, including dry reforming of methane and integrated CO2 conversion processes. A key emphasis is placed on designing transparent, flexible, and high-performance electronic devices such as gas sensors and memory devices using 2D heterostructures, graphene, and carbon nanotubes. The lab also explores enantioselective synthesis using chiral transition metal complexes for high-value chemical production.

Review of two-phase critical flow models and investigation of the relationship between choking, premature CHF, and CHF in micro-channel heat sinks
Sung‐Min Kim, Issam Mudawar
SJR Q1International Journal of Heat and Mass TransferOA

Two-phase micro-channel heat sinks are known to exhibit several anomalies that are far less prevalent in macro-channels. High pressure drop in micro-channels is associated with appreciable compressibility , caused by strong variations of specific volumes of vapor and liquid with pressure, and flashing, which is the result of strong variations of enthalpies of vapor and liquid with pressure, and appreciable compressibility and flashing contribute to a high likelihood of two-phase choking. SJR Q1Journal of Ginseng ResearchOA

Our observations suggest that the systemic gintonin administration could successfully improve contextual memory formation at the molecular and synaptic levels as well as the behavioral level. Therefore, oral administration of gintonin may serve as an effective noninvasive, nonsurgical method of enhancing cognitive functions.

While ica gene of Staphylococcus epidermidis is known to undergo phase variation by insertion of IS256, the phenomenon in Staphylococcus aureus has not been evaluated. Six biofilm-positive strains were tested for the presence of biofilm-nega-tive phase-variant strains by Congo red agar test. For potential phase-variant strains, pulsed-field gel electrophoresis was done to exclude the possibility of contamination. To investigate the mechanism of the biofilm-negative phase variation, PCR for each

SJR Q2The Journal of Microbiology

In this study, we examined the biofilm forming ability, the mRNA expression of curli genes and the morphologies of curli fimbriae and biofilms in clinical isolates of Enterobacter cloacae. The csgBA operon was found in 11 (78.6%) of the 14 isolates. The ability of E. cloacae isolates to form biofilms was significantly correlated with the mRNA expression level of the csgA and csgD genes. The curli protein fimbriae appeared as tangled fibers and the curli-proficient strain formed mature biofilms.
