Professor Sung No Hong's research lab focuses on gastrointestinal oncology and molecular gastroenterology, with a strong emphasis on the genetic and epigenetic mechanisms underlying colorectal cancer and hepatocellular carcinoma. The lab investigates host-microbe interactions, particularly the role of intestinal microbiota in irritable bowel syndrome and colorectal neoplasia, as well as the impact of Helicobacter pylori infection on colorectal carcinogenesis. Utilizing advanced genomic technologies such as targeted sequencing and molecular epidemiology, the lab aims to identify novel biomarkers and risk variants for early detection and personalized treatment strategies.
