Professor Sung Soo Jeon's research lab specializes in urological oncology and minimally invasive urological surgery, with a focus on improving treatment outcomes for urothelial cancers and urinary stones. The lab investigates molecular mechanisms of cancer resistance, such as in bladder cancer, and evaluates the impact of diagnostic and therapeutic interventions—like ureterorenoscopy and endoscopic lithotripsy—on long-term patient outcomes. Research also extends to optimizing surgical techniques, including ureteral stent length selection and robotic-assisted surgery, to enhance postoperative recovery and quality of life.

LRP and RALRP performed by a single surgeon yielded similar results in terms of safety and oncological outcomes. More favorable outcomes were noted in operating time, pain NRS and catheter duration, as well as urinary continence recovery time. Therefore, RALRP showed more favorable components in terms of postoperative quality of life than LRP.
Incidence of UC was much higher in KT recipients than the general population. Treatment outcomes for UC in KT recipients were not inferior to those of non-KT patients, except for the progression of bladder cancer. Special attention should be paid to screening and treatment of UC in KT recipients.
The ALA-based fluorescence cystoscopy technique is a safe and simple procedure that enhances the detection of flat and papillary urothelial neoplasms. Moreover, it will be able to provide useful information that will enable proper staging and appropriate further treatment.

The proportion of partial nephrectomies performed sharply increased over the study period. Additionally, over the study period, more partial nephrectomies were performed for renal masses of larger size and closer to the collecting system and main renal vessels.
