Professor Sungil Seo's research lab specializes in urological oncology and minimally invasive surgical techniques, with a strong focus on improving outcomes in prostate and kidney cancer treatment. The lab investigates the integration of advanced imaging, such as multiparametric MRI, with clinical data and deep learning models to predict long-term survival and recurrence after radical prostatectomy. Additionally, the lab explores the biological mechanisms underlying prostate diseases, including the role of inflammatory and signaling pathways like NF-κB and IKKε in carcinogenesis. Surgical innovation, particularly in robotic-assisted partial nephrectomy and radical prostatectomy, is a central theme, with emphasis on functional and oncological outcomes.

15RALP was beneficial for the earlier recovery of continence, although LRP and RALP had comparable safety and efficacy as minimally invasive surgery for prostate cancer when performed by a laparoscopic surgeon with intermediate experience. Incidence of UC was much higher in KT recipients than the general population. Treatment outcomes for UC in KT recipients were not inferior to those of non-KT patients, except for the progression of bladder cancer. Special attention should be paid to screening and treatment of UC in KT recipients.
