Professor Sunny Lee's research lab focuses on sustainable environmental solutions and biomedical applications of biochar and natural compounds. The lab investigates biochar's role in mitigating greenhouse gas emissions, enhancing soil organic carbon, and improving crop yields in agricultural systems, particularly in East Asian contexts. Additionally, the lab explores the therapeutic potential of cannabidiol and related compounds in cancer treatment, emphasizing mechanisms involving endoplasmic reticulum stress and apoptosis pathways. The integration of environmental science and translational medicine defines the lab’s interdisciplinary approach.
