研究室紹介
Professor Suyun Kim's research lab focuses on translational biomedical research with a strong emphasis on clinical diagnostics, medical imaging, and public health applications. The lab investigates biomarkers and predictive models for cancer outcomes, particularly in breast cancer, using advanced imaging techniques and machine learning. It also explores environmental and zoonotic infectious diseases, such as tick-borne encephalitis virus, and examines the role of oxidative stress and trace elements in gynecological cancers. Additionally, the lab contributes to health education research, especially in the context of online learning platforms like K-MOOC, analyzing factors influencing learner engagement and satisfaction.

15OBJECTIVES: To evaluate changes in the volume and cross-sectional area of the nasal airway before and 1 year after nonsurgical miniscrew-assisted rapid maxillary expansion (MARME) in young adults. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Fourteen patients (mean age, 22.7 years; 10 women, four men) with a transverse discrepancy who underwent cone beam computed tomography before (T0), immediately after (T1), and 1 year after (T2) expansion were retrospectively included in this study. The volume of the nasal cavity
Background There is an increasing need to develop a more accurate prediction model for pathologic complete response (pCR) after neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) in breast cancer. Purpose To develop a nomogram based on MRI and clinical-pathologic variables to predict pCR. Materials and Methods In this single-center retrospective study, consecutive women with stage II-III breast cancer who underwent NAC followed by surgery between January 2011 and December 2017 were considered for inclusion. The wom
To determine whether the tick-borne encephalitis virus (TBEV) is present in vector ticks and mammalian hosts in Korea, we examined two tick species, Haemaphysalis longicornis (n = 548) and Ixodes nipponensis (n = 87), and the lungs or spleens of rodents Apodemus agrarius (n = 24) and wild boars (n = 16). Tick-borne encephalitis virus was detected in samples by reverse transcriptase (RT)-nested polymerase chain reaction (PCR), after which TBEV-positive samples were inoculated into BHK-21 cells an
This study investigated serum lipid peroxidation, antioxidant capacity, and trace element levels in Korean women as related to uterine cervical neoplasia. Twenty-eight subjects had cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN), 36 had invasive cervical cancer, as determined by a colposcopically directed biopsy, and controls included 44 subjects with normal colposcopic findings. Significantly lower selenium (Se) and zinc (Zn) levels and higher copper/Zn ratios were found in both CIN and cancer patient
A major limitation of screening breast ultrasound (US) is a substantial number of false-positive biopsy. This study aimed to develop a deep learning-based computer-aided diagnosis (DL-CAD)-based diagnostic model to improve the differential diagnosis of screening US-detected breast masses and reduce false-positive diagnoses. In this multicenter retrospective study, a diagnostic model was developed based on US images combined with information obtained from the DL-CAD software for patients with bre
Ultrafast DCE-MRI could improve lesion conspicuity compared to conventional DCE-MRI, especially in women with premenopausal status, non-mass enhancement, moderate to marked BPE or short time to enhancement.
Purpose To determine the survival rates and clinical-pathologic and imaging factors associated with recurrence in women with breast cancer detected at screening ultrasonography (US). Materials and Methods This study was approved by the institutional review board, and the requirement to obtain informed consent was waived. A retrospective review of the databases of four institutions identified 501 women (median age, 47 years; range, 27–74 years) with breast cancer (425 invasive cancers and 76 duct
Background Few studies have compared abbreviated breast MRI with full-protocol MRI in women with a personal history of breast cancer (PHBC), and they have not adjusted for confounding variables. Purpose To compare abbreviated breast MRI with full-protocol MRI in women with PHBC by using propensity score matching to adjust for confounding variables. Materials and Methods In this single-center retrospective study, women with PHBC who underwent full-protocol MRI (January 2008-August 2017) or abbrev
OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to investigate the influence of surface microgrooves and acid etching on titanium substrata on cell proliferation and gene expression of cultured human gingival fibroblasts. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Ti substrata with various dimensions of microgrooves and further acid etching comprised four experimental groups (E15/3.5, E30/5, E60/10, and E90/15), whereas smooth and acid etched Ti discs were both used as control (NE0 and E0). The chemical composition of the control and e
