Professor Tae-joong Kim's research lab specializes in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, with a focus on advancing surgical techniques such as single-port access (SPA) laparoscopy and vaginal natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (vNOTES). The lab investigates surgical outcomes, feasibility, safety, and learning curves associated with these advanced approaches, particularly in benign gynecologic conditions. Additionally, the lab integrates molecular diagnostics, such as gene expression profiling, to improve preoperative prediction of disease progression, including lymph node metastasis in cervical cancer. 15We investigated whether gene expression profiling of primary cervical tumor tissue could be used to predict lymph node (LN) metastasis and compared this with conventional magnetic resonance imaging.
