Professor Uhyeon Lim's research lab specializes in cardiovascular interventional cardiology and vascular biology, with a strong focus on optimizing stent design and anticoagulation therapy in patients with atrial fibrillation and coronary artery disease. The lab investigates the biological and clinical impact of drug-eluting stents, particularly emphasizing the role of stent composition, polymer biodegradability, and endothelial progenitor cell capture in promoting vascular healing and reducing restenosis. Additionally, the lab conducts large-scale real-world data studies using national health insurance databases to evaluate the safety and efficacy of anticoagulants and interventional strategies in Asian populations.

15Patients with atrial fibrillation had a 4 times increased risk of mortality compared with the general population. However, the impact of atrial fibrillation on mortality decreased with age and in men. Cerebral infarction was the most common cause of death, and more attention should be paid to reducing the risk of stroke.
All DESs but PES and ZES-E were superior to BMS in terms of ST within 1 year. Cobalt-chromium everolimus-eluting stents was safer than any DES even including BP-BES. Our results suggest that not only the biodegradability of polymer, but the optimal combination of stent alloy, design, strut thickness, polymer, and drug all combined determine the safety of DES.

Atrial fibrillation (AF) is characterized by irregular and relatively rapid heart rate, which occasionally causes symptoms such as palpitations, dyspnea, or reduced exercise capacity. Controlling the ventricular rate is a mainstay for the symptom management of patients with AF. Rate control can be achieved with beta-blockers, non-dihydropyridine calcium channel blockers, digoxin, or combination therapy.
