Professor Woo Young Jang's research lab specializes in orthopedic biomaterials and surgical innovation, focusing on developing advanced anti-infection and anti-fouling solutions for orthopedic implants and surgical applications. The lab investigates mechanical durability and biological performance of novel surface coatings, such as LOIS, to prevent surgical site infections and biofilm formation. Additionally, the lab explores clinical outcomes and biomechanical factors in pediatric and adult musculoskeletal disorders, including meniscal injuries and chronic ankle instability, with an emphasis on functional recovery and long-term joint health. Their work bridges materials science, surgical technology, and clinical outcomes research to improve patient safety and surgical efficacy.
