Inflammatory Fibroid Polyps of Gastrointestinal Tract: Evolution of Histologic Patterns
Yong Il Kim, Woo Ho Kim
SJR Q1American Journal of Clinical Pathology

Fifteen cases of inflammatory fibroid polyps (IFPs) of the gastrointestinal tract were subjected to histopathologic analysis. Six of them were from the small intestines and the remainder from the stomach. Their size ranged from 0.2 to 12.0 cm in maximum cross-section. The polyps were classified into four groups, based on histology and size. The nodular stage (average: 0.4 cm) showed nodules of immature fibroblasts with a loose myxoid background resembling a tactile corpuscle of Meissner. The fib

Synthesis of Monoclinic Potassium Niobate Nanowires That Are Stable at Room Temperature
Seung Wook Kim, Ju‐Hyuck Lee, Jaeyeon Lee, Sang‐Woo Kim, Myung Hwa Kim, Sungnam Park, Haegeun Chung, Yong Il Kim, Woong Kim
SJR Q1Journal of the American Chemical Society

We report the synthesis of KNbO(3) nanowires (NWs) with a monoclinic phase, a phase not observed in bulk KNbO(3) materials. The monoclinic NWs can be synthesized via a hydrothermal method using metallic Nb as a precursor. The NWs are metastable, and thermal treatment at ∼450 °C changed the monoclinic phase into the orthorhombic phase, which is the most stable phase of KNbO(3) at room temperature. Furthermore, we fabricated energy-harvesting nanogenerators by vertically aligning the NWs on SrTiO(

Glomus tumor of the trachea. Report of a case with ultrastructural observation

SJR Q1CancerOA

Extracutaneous glomus tumors are unusual and their occurrence in the trachea has been recognized with extreme rarity. We present a case of surgically resected glomus tumor of the trachea in a 54-year-old woman who was initially misdiagnosed as having bronchial asthma because of expiratory wheezing. The tumor, located 7 cm below the vocal cord and 5 cm above the carina, was an intraluminally protruding polypoid mass that measured 1.5 X 1.2 cm and arose from the posterior wall of the trachea with

Dedifferentiated liposarcoma of the liver

SJR Q1CancerOA

Among the rare occurrences of primary malignant mesenchymal tumors of the liver, the development of liposarcoma has been only theoretically listed--there is no proven example in the literature. This article documents a case of primary liposarcoma of the liver in a 30-year-old woman who presented with a huge intrahepatic tumor in the left lobe measuring 14 X 10 X 6 cm. It was composed of two distinct macroscopic and histologic features--the well-differentiated liposarcoma and the cellular, nonlip

SJR Q2BMC Musculoskeletal DisordersOA

Bone SPECT/CT is more useful than conventional bone scintigraphy in identifying sacroiliitis in early axial SpA patients, even with mild SI joint changes in plain radiography. By combining CT, we can accurately delineate the sacrum and SI joint uptake with our VOI method.

Numerous threats to human health and ecosystems on earth exist due to air pollution and the spread of fatal diseases. Airborne pollutants and particulate matter (PM) pose serious public health risks. In addition, the emergence and spread of bacterial and viral diseases constantly threaten public health and safety. Although various approaches have been implemented thus far to protect humans from air pollution and exposure to diseases, several challenges remain to be addressed. In this study, we d

Is retrieval of at least 15 lymph nodes sufficient recommendation in early gastric cancer?
Yong Il Kim
SJR Q2Annals of Surgical Treatment and ResearchOA

LN metastasis is an independent factor of survival and the number of retrieved LNs significantly relate to the long-term survival benefit in node metastatic EGC. Also, our data suggest that the retrieval of at least 15 LNs may not be sufficient to warrant recommendation for more curative surgery, and that qualified LN dissection should be considered if LN metastasis is in doubt, even in EGC.
