Professor Yong Park's research lab specializes in translational oncology and stem cell biology, focusing on the molecular mechanisms underlying cancer progression—particularly bone metastasis in gastric cancer and extracellular vesicle-mediated signaling in acute myeloid leukemia. The lab also investigates the regulatory roles of growth factors and stromal microenvironments in maintaining pluripotency of human embryonic stem cells, with an emphasis on feeder-free and cytokine-free culture systems. Additionally, the lab contributes to clinical hematology by developing consensus guidelines for bone marrow involvement assessment in lymphoma and evaluating hypomethylating agents in myelodysplastic syndromes.

BMP-2 seems to have a role in progression to metastatic disease in gastric cancer, especially in the late stage of tumorigenesis, including invasion and metastasis. Abstract Introduction Ruxolitinib is a selective JAK 1/2 inhibitor, which shows an excellent treatment outcome in myelofibrosis (MF) patients. Main side effect of JAK 1/2 inhibitors is an increased risk of infection.
