研究室紹介

Professor Yongmin Ahn's research lab focuses on the neurobiological and psychological mechanisms underlying mood and psychotic disorders, with a particular emphasis on circadian rhythms, depression phenotypes, and treatment-resistant depression. The lab investigates objective biomarkers—such as voice features and molecular signaling pathways like GSK-3β—for early detection and personalized treatment of psychiatric conditions. Key research directions include the pathophysiology of bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, especially in relation to suicide risk and neurochemical alterations. The lab integrates clinical psychiatry with translational neuroscience to improve diagnostic accuracy and therapeutic outcomes.

SJR Q1Bipolar DisordersOA

OBJECTIVES: Although a broad range of circadian rhythm variations have been reported, analyses of chronotypes in bipolar I disorder (BDI) and schizophrenia are rare. The present study aimed to investigate specific chronotype patterns in BDI and schizophrenia compared with healthy subjects. METHODS: All patients were clinically stable and recruited from the outpatient clinics of Seoul National University Hospital. They were diagnosed according to DSM-IV criteria. Both minor and major depression have high prevalence and are important causes of social burden worldwide; however, there is still no objective indicator to detect minor depression. This study aimed to examine if voice could be used as a biomarker to detect minor and major depression. Ninety-three subjects were classified into three groups: the not depressed group (n = 33), the minor depressive episode group (n = 26), and the major depressive episode group (n = 34), based on current depressive st

Objectives:The Montgomery-Åsberg Depression Rating Scale (MADRS) has been reported as a valid tool for the assessment of depression because it is based on the core symptoms of depression. The aim of this study is to assess the reliability, validity and psychometric properties of the Korean version of the MADRS (K-MADRS). Methods:One hundred seven patients, including in-patients and out-patients, diagnosed as major depressive disorder according to the DSM-IV criteria were enrolled in this s

SJR Q3The Journal of Nervous and Mental Disease

We compared the characteristics of patients with bipolar disorder with and without a history of suicide attempts to identify the risk factors of suicide in this disorder. Among 212 patients with bipolar disorder, 44 (21.2%) patients had histories of suicide attempts. Suicide attempters were younger and more likely to be diagnosed with bipolar II. The variables that differentiated those who did from those who did not attempt suicide included age at first contact, lifetime history of antidepressan
