Professor Yoon Ho-ju's research lab specializes in respiratory and environmental health, focusing on the immunological and inflammatory mechanisms underlying airway diseases. The lab investigates the impact of environmental exposures—such as air pollutants, indoor air quality, and occupational agents—on respiratory conditions like asthma, bronchiectasis, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It also explores the systemic links between chronic inflammatory conditions, such as periodontitis, and respiratory outcomes, including lung cancer. The research integrates clinical epidemiology with molecular immunology to understand disease progression and resolution.

15Rhinovirus (RV) upper respiratory tract infections are prototypic transient inflammatory responses. To address the mechanism of disease resolution in these infections, we determined if RV stimulated the production of the IL-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1ra) in vivo and in vitro.
