研究室紹介
Professor You-jin Lee's research lab specializes in cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying renal diseases, fibrosis, and cancer progression, with a strong focus on intercellular communication via extracellular vesicles, metabolic regulation through nuclear receptors like PPARγ and GPR81, and signaling pathways involving cytokines such as IL-6. The lab investigates how these mechanisms influence epithelial-mesenchymal transition, membrane transport dysfunction, and tumor microenvironment modulation, aiming to identify novel therapeutic targets and biomarkers. Their work bridges basic cell biology with translational applications in drug delivery, regenerative medicine, and infectious disease diagnostics.

15Extracellular vesicles (EVs), including exosomes, are increasingly recognized as potent mediators of intercellular communication due to their capacity to transport a diverse array of bioactive molecules. They assume vital roles in a wide range of physiological and pathological processes and hold significant promise as emerging disease biomarkers, therapeutic agents, and carriers for drug delivery. Exosomes encompass specific groups of membrane proteins, lipids, nucleic acids, cytosolic proteins,
Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-γ (PPARγ) agonists ameliorate renal fibrotic lesions in diabetic nephropathy. However, the effects of the agonists on the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) linked to membrane transport dysfunction are unknown. The present study aimed to verify the effects of the PPARγ agonist troglitazone on high glucose (HG)-induced EMT in primary cultured renal proximal tubular epithelial cells (PTCs). HG (25 mM) as well as hydrogen peroxide (H(2)O(2)) and trans
G-protein-coupled receptor 81 (GPR81) functions as a receptor for lactate and plays an important role in the regulation of anti-lipolytic effects in adipocytes. However, to data, a role for GPR81 in the tumor microenvironment has not been clearly defined. Here, GPR81 expression in breast cancer patients and several breast cancer cell lines was significantly increased compared with normal mammary tissues and cells. GPR81 knockdown resulted in impaired breast cancer growth and led to apoptosis bot
Recent studies have shown that interleukin 6 (IL-6) acts on the cellular proliferation-activating transduction signals during cellular regeneration. Therefore, this study examined the effect of IL-6 on the activation of Na(+)/glucose cotransporters (SGLTs) and its related signaling pathways in primary cultured renal proximal tubule cells (PTCs). IL-6 increased the level of alpha-methyl-d-[(14)C]glucopyranoside (alpha-MG) uptake in time- and dose-dependent manners. IL-6 also increased SGLT1 plus
β-lactam antibiotics are one of the most clinical importance in human and veterinary medicine because they are used for both preventive and therapeutic purposes against several gram-positive, gram-negative, and anaerobic organisms. In this study, it was confirmed that β-lactams (81.1%) were found to be significantly prescribed the most among 74 farms in five integrated broiler operations, and single prescription (84.6%), two-day (41.5%) or three-day (40.0%) administration and 15–22 days of age (
