Professor Young Jun Chai's research lab specializes in minimally invasive and endoscopic surgical techniques, particularly in thyroid and adrenal surgery, with a focus on improving patient outcomes through scarless or remote-access approaches such as transoral endoscopic thyroidectomy and retroperitoneal adrenalectomy. The lab also integrates advanced imaging and artificial intelligence to enhance diagnostic accuracy in thyroid nodules, leveraging deep learning models for non-invasive prediction of benign and malignant conditions. Additionally, the lab investigates molecular markers, such as SLC2A genes, to understand their prognostic significance in colorectal and thyroid cancers.

Hypoxia-related gene (HRG) expression is associated with survival outcomes of colorectal cancer (CRC). Our aim was developing a nomogram predicting CRC overall survival (OS) with HRGs and clinicopathological factors. The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database was used as discovery cohort and two Gene Expression Omnibus databases (GSE39582 and GSE41258) served as validation cohorts.
