Professor Young Seo Kim's research lab focuses on cancer biology and glycobiology, with a particular emphasis on the role of carbohydrate antigens and glycoproteins in colorectal and pancreatic cancers. The lab investigates tumor-associated carbohydrate antigens such as LeY, LeX, and sialyl Lewis X, exploring their expression patterns and biological significance in cancer progression and metastasis. Additionally, the lab examines the effects of bioactive compounds like sodium butyrate and DMSO on cancer cell differentiation and tumorigenicity, as well as the physicochemical properties of plant polysaccharides with potential biomedical applications. These studies aim to uncover novel biomarkers and therapeutic targets for gastrointestinal cancers.
