Professor Young Yul Hyun's research lab focuses on renal nutrition and metabolic health in chronic kidney disease (CKD), with a particular emphasis on protein-energy wasting (PEW), muscle mass dynamics, and novel biomarkers such as the serum creatinine/cystatin C ratio. The lab investigates the pathophysiological links between sarcopenia, hypertension, and kidney disease progression using large-scale prospective cohort studies. Additionally, the lab explores regenerative and immunomodulatory therapies, including adipose-derived stem cells, for immune-mediated kidney diseases such as immunoglobulin A nephropathy (IgAN).
