研究室紹介

Professor Yun, Chang-Ho's research lab focuses on the intersection of sleep disorders, neurodegenerative diseases, and cerebrovascular health. The lab investigates how conditions like obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) contribute to cerebral amyloid deposition, white matter integrity loss, and cognitive decline, particularly in aging populations. A key research direction involves using advanced neuroimaging techniques—such as 11C-PiB PET and MRI—to understand the biological links between sleep disruption and neurodegenerative pathologies like Alzheimer’s disease. The lab also explores chronotype-related differences in health behaviors, sleep quality, and quality of life, aiming to identify modifiable factors that influence brain health and disease risk.

SJR Q1Epilepsia

PURPOSE: Defining prognostic factors for neocortical epilepsy surgery is important for the identification of ideal candidates and for predicting the prognosis of individual patients. We use multivariate analysis to identify favorable prognostic factors for neocortical epilepsy surgery. METHODS: One hundred ninety-three neocortical epilepsy patients, including 91 without focal lesions on MRI, were included. Sixty-one had frontal lobe epilepsy (FLE), 80 had neocortical temporal lobe epilepsy (nTLE

Weekend sleep extension may have biological protective effects in preventing sleep-restriction induced or related obesity. The results suggest a simple population-level strategy to minimize effects of sleep loss.

OSA led to the overproduction of EMPs, which moderately correlated with OSA severity and the degree of atherosclerosis, and partly responded to therapy. The endothelial impairment might contribute to future cardiovascular events.

SJR Q1Journal of Alzheimer s Disease

To test the hypothesis that excessive amyloid deposition is a biological link between obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and Alzheimer's disease, we determined whether OSA increases cerebral amyloid burden, relative to controls, using Pittsburgh Compound B (PiB) PET imaging. The subjects were adult participants (age 50-65 years) from the Korean Genome and Epidemiology Study. Polysomnography, brain MRI including 3D images, and a detailed neuro-cognitive function test battery were done in 2011-2012. Ni

SJR Q2Behavioral Sleep Medicine

This study investigates health behaviors, health-related quality of life (HRQOL) and sleep among chronotypes in a community-based sample (n = 2,976). Analysis of covariance indicated evening types (E-types) had a significantly higher percentage of current smokers and more sleep-interfering behaviors compared to intermediate and morning types (M-type), and also lower physical activity and more sleep disturbance compared to M-types. E-types also had worse mental HRQOL compared to both chronotypes,

These findings suggest that dynamic changes in OSA status were significantly associated with WM integrity and cognition, which varied by age and sex. It is possible that adequate interventions for OSA could better preserve brain health in middle to late adulthood.

OBJECTIVES/HYPOTHESIS: To test the effect of upper airway surgery on sleep quality in adults with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and the potential usefulness of electrocardiogram (ECG)-based cardiopulmonary coupling (CPC) analysis as metrics of sleep quality. STUDY DESIGN: Retrospective outcome research. METHODS: A total of 62 consecutive adult patients with OSA, consisting of 36 with successful and 26 with unsuccessful outcomes, were included in the study. Mean age was 37.7 ± 8.9 years, and body

Journal of Korean Medical Science

The effect of hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) on dry eye has not been fully determined. This study aimed to compare the 12-week efficacy of HCQ medication with that of a placebo in the management of dry eye in primary Sjögren’s syndrome (pSS). A double-blind, randomized control study was conducted in 39 pSS subjects from May 2011 through August 2013. pSS was diagnosed based on the classification criteria of the American- European Consensus Group. Subjects received 300 mg of HCQ or placebo once daily fo
