Professor Yun-Soo Choi's research lab focuses on immunology and environmental science, with a central emphasis on the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying adaptive immunity, particularly the differentiation and function of T follicular helper (Tfh) cells and B-1 B cells in immune surveillance and homeostasis. The lab investigates how cytokines like IL-6 and transcription factors such as Bcl6 and STAT1 regulate early T cell fate decisions and humoral immunity, while also exploring the role of innate-like B cells in producing natural antibodies. In parallel, the lab applies atmospheric modeling and remote sensing to study air quality, chemical transport, and the environmental impacts of pollutants such as NOx and ozone across the continental United States. These interdisciplinary efforts bridge immunological mechanisms with environmental health and atmospheric chemistry.
