Survival analysis (time-to-event analysis) is widely used in economics and finance, engineering, medicine and many other areas. A fundamental problem is to understand the relationship between the covariates and the (distribution of) survival times(times-to-event). Much of the previous work has approached the problem by viewing the survival time as the first hitting time of a stochastic process, assuming a specific form for the underlying stochastic process, using available data to learn the rela
Traffic patterns in access networks have evolved from voice- and text-oriented services to video- and image-based services. This change will require new access networks that support high-speed (> 100 Mb/s), symmetric, and guaranteed bandwidths for future video services with high-definition TV quality. To satisfy the required bandwidth over a 20-km transmission distance, single-mode optical fiber is currently the only practical choice. To minimize the cost of implementing an FTTP solution, a pass
We have investigated the effect of photoinduced electron transfer on the photoconductivity (PC) of conducting polymer-${\mathrm{C}}_{60}$ films by comparing the photoconductivity (carrier generation and carrier transport) of the conducting polymer sensitized with ${\mathrm{C}}_{60}$ with that of the conducting polymer alone. We present time-resolved transient PC results, subnanosecond to 0.5 \ensuremath{\mu}s, obtained from poly[2-methoxy,5-(2'-ethyl-hexyloxy)-p-phenylene vinylene] (MEH-PPV) and
Flexible inorganic nanostructure light-emitting diodes (LEDs) are fabricated using high-quality GaN/ZnO coaxial nanorod heterostructures grown directly on large graphene films. The nanostructure LEDs fabricated on graphene films are readily transferred onto flexible plastic substrates, which operated reliably in a flexible form without significant degradation of the LED performance.
Blue host materials for organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) based on silicon-cored (tetraphenylsilane) anthracene derivatives are synthesized. These compounds, with a non-coplanar molecular structure, have high glass-transition temperatures and good amorphous-film-forming capabilities. When doped with a blue-fluorescent dopant, blue emission with high color purity and high efficiency, up to 7.5 cd A(-1) and 6.3%, is achieved.
We report the spectral response and slow decay of the steady-state photoconductivity in poly(p-phenylenevinylene) (PPV) films. The spectral response of the photoconductivity is in good agreement with that calculated from the absorption data with the assumption of rapid recombination at the surface of the film; the results indicate direct photogeneration of free charge carriers via an interband transition. The photoconductivity is, therefore, consistent with a description of the electronic struct
Abstract A novel host material containing silicon‐cored spirobifluorene derivative (SBP‐TS‐PSB), is designed, synthesized, and characterized for red phosphorescent organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs). The SBP‐TS‐PSB has excellent thermal and morphological stabilities and exhibits high electroluminescence (EL) efficiency as a host for the red phosphorescent OLEDs. The electrophosphorescence properties of the devices using SBP‐TS‐PSB as the host and red phosphorescent iridium (III) complexes as
It is shown theoretically that the directly modulated laser diode, with the modulation frequency of its injection current comparable to the relaxation oscillation frequency, exhibits period doubling route to chaos as the modulation index of current is increased. The effect of spontaneous emission factor on the chaotic behavior in the laser diode is also studied.
Although solution processed metal nanowire (NW) percolation networks are a strong candidate to replace commercial indium tin oxide, their performance is limited in thin film device applications due to reduced effective electrical areas arising from the dimple structure and percolative voids that single size metal NW percolation networks inevitably possess. Here, we present a transparent electrode based on a dual-scale silver nanowire (AgNW) percolation network embedded in a flexible substrate to
We report the results of transient-photoconductivity measurements on films of poly(p-phenylenevinylene) (PPV) in the subnanosecond-time regime. The initial fast transient photocurrent decays exponentially with a decay time of about 100 ps, followed by a slower component with a decay time of about 600 ps. The magnitude of the fast component is proportional to the light intensity and independent of temperature, while the magnitude of the slower component is proportional to the square root of the l
Quantum dot/conducting polymer hybrid films are used to prepare light-emitting diodes (LEDs). The hybrid films (CdSe@ZnS quantum dots excellently dispersed in a conducting polymer matrix, see figure) are readily prepared by various solution-based processes and are also easily micropatterned. The LEDs exhibit a turn-on voltage of 4 V, an external quantum efficiency greater than 1.5%, and almost pure-green quantum-dot electroluminescence.
