창원기 교수의 연구실은 원추성 망막병변과 녹내망막병변의 병태생리학적 기전을 규명하고, 특히 정상내압성 녹내망의 혈관성 병변과 시신경섬유층 손상의 상관관계를 중심으로 연구를 진행하고 있습니다. 특히, 시신경섬유층의 퇴행과 연관된 망막미소혈관망의 변화, 약물 치료 반응 및 수술적 접근의 최적화에 초점을 맞추고 있으며, 시신경판 크기의 영향을 고려한 진단 기준 개선도 함께 연구하고 있습니다.

The partial ligation of a tube in Ahmed glaucoma valve implantation suggested a lower rate of hypotony and surgical complications. There was no significant difference in final success rate between the partial ligation and nonligation groups.
PPG eyes and normal eyes were found to have the similar densities of peripapillary microvasculature at the area with nerve fiber layer defect, whereas in PG eye, there was a significant decrease in vessel density at the area of RNFL thinning. This provides evidence that microvascular compromise in the retina might be a secondary change to nerve fiber layer degeneration in the pathogenesis of NTG.
