이 교수의 연구실은 세포 신호전달, 이온 교환체 및 면역 조절 메커니즘을 중심으로, 특히 Na+/H+ 교환체(NHE)의 기능과 그 유전자 가족이 세포 내 pH 조절, 세포 부피 조절 및 염증 반응에 미치는 영향을 연구하고 있습니다. 또한 항암제 개발과 면역 조절을 위한 자연유래 물질(예: 베타-글루칸, 알파-에레오스타레인산)의 작용 기전을 밝히는 데에도 주력하고 있으며, 특히 암세포 성장 억제 및 T세포 반응 조절 메커니즘을 중심으로 기초 생물학적 기전을 규명하고 있습니다. 최근에는 나노소재 기반 백신의 면역세포 활성화 메커니즘, 특히 CD8+ T세포 반응 유도에 초점을 맞춘 연구도 진행 중입니다.

Na+/H+ exchangers are integral plasma membrane proteins that exchange extracellular Na+ for intracellular H+ with a stoichiometry of one for one. The effect of beta-glucan, extracted from oats, on the enhancement of resistance to infections caused by Staphylococcus aureus and Eimeria vermiformis was studied in mice. In vitro study using macrophages isolated from the peritoneal cavity showed that beta-glucan treatment significantly enhanced phagocytic activity.
