This study tested the effects of three alternative types of backpack on head posture and neck muscle electromyography (EMG) in children. Four loading conditions were tested: no pack; a backpack; a double pack; a modified double pack (designed with a backpack and a front pack weighing 10% and 5% of body weight, respectively). Dependent variables were neck muscle activity, forward head angle and forward head distance (the perpendicular distance from C7 to a vertical line through the tragus of the
The degree of disability from back pain assessed using the ODQ score was influenced by a pain severity and LBP type. Also, QUE score was influenced by a pain severity, LBP type, pain duration and gender. To assess the disability caused by back pain accurately using the ODQ and QUE, various factors affecting the scores of the questionnaire must be considered.
Correcting sitting posture from SS to TUS may better assist swallowing-related muscles with less effort, irrespective of the bolus volume.
The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of ankle taping and the combined effect of ankle taping and exercise on ankle stabilization under four different conditions (pre-taped, taped, walking on the treadmill, removal of tape) in drop landing from a 40 cm height. The subjects consisted of 14 healthy adult (four male, ten female) volunteers with ages ranging from 22-28 years. Preamplified EMG electrodes were attached to the soleus, tibialis anterior, vastus medialis, and biceps femor
The purpose of this study was to examine the inter-rater reliability of the Korean translation of the GMFM(Gross Motor Function Measure). Three licensed physical therapists with varying amounts(2 - 6 years) of clinical experience served as raters. Thirty patients with cerebral palsy were subjects for this study. Subjects were 22 boys and 8 girls, aged 1 to 8 years. Reliability of each dimension and each total score of the GMGM were analyzed using ICCs(intraclass correlation coefficients). The re

As in house care is develops and becomes part of the health care delivery system in Korea, it is necessary to quantify the viewpoints of in-patients and outpatients. The purposes of this study are to analyze the utilization of house visits byphysical therapist and to investigate the viewpoint of in- and out-patients who had rehabilitation treatment at 3 general hospitals in Wonju, Korea. Two hundred and fifty-eight questionnaires were analyzed and the major findings are as follows:1. Sixty-five
The results suggests that a footrest height of 10% of the body height can be recommended as a normalized height for prolonged standing work in subjects with a history of non-specific lower back pain during prolonged standing.
This study was carried out to measure the degree of work-related stress and to identify factors influencing the excessive stress among clinical physical therapists. One thousand and five physical therapists surveyed nationwide met the established criteria for inclusion in the study. The respondents were an average age of 27.1 years, 34.5% were married, and 61.2% were female. Most of the respondent (48.1%) worked in local clinics. The average stress score was 50.9. Analysis-of-variance test demon
The damage caused by pressure in bedridden hospitalized patients is attributable to the body tissues becoming compressed against bony prominences, which results in poor capillary perfusion. Automated inclining beds were developed in this study to assist patients in repositioning, with the aim of quantifying the effects of 3 types of bed (bed 1, 1-axis tilting; bed 2, 1-axis and 2-segment tilting; and bed 3, 2-axis and 3-segment tilting) and 3 tilt angles (10, 15, and 20 degrees upward from the h
